Barcelona vs Man City: Rakitic says Manchester City cannot surprise Barcelona.

Ivan Rakitic does not believe Barcelona will be caught by surprise by Manchester City in Wednesday's Champions League tie.

The Spanish side got away with a 2-1 win in the first leg of the round of 16 match at the Etihad Stadium and welcome the Premier League champions at Camp Nou, where Manuel Pellegrini's men will try to cause a shock reversal in the last 16.

Despite acknowledging that qualification for the quarter-finals is far from assured, the Croatian midfielder is confident that Barca know how to deal with the team they knocked out at the same stage last season.

"It was very important that we won the first leg," Rakitic told Sportske Novosti. "We all know how difficult it is to play in England, especially in Manchester.

"We put in a smart performance and we have to do the same at Camp Nou. The tie is not decided yet but, with our fans behind us, we can be even better.

"Barca played Man City at Camp Nou last year, the clubs know each other very well and I don't expect them to spring any tactical surprises on us."

Dani Alves was more cautious about the threat their opponents might pose and was keen to stress that Luis Enrique's men cannot let errors sneak into their performances.

"The danger of this leg is that we must not think the tie is already decided in our favour," he told GloboEsporte. "They can score a couple of goals and, suddenly, it complicates Barca's progress.
"We have to be very focused to ensure that there are no mistakes. Mistakes in football can be so costly. Man City are a very competitive team with great players and clear idea how they play.
"We know it will be very difficult to eliminate them."
